This study evaluates whether functionally adapted SBRT, guided by xenon-enhanced MRI, can better preserve lung function in lung cancer patients. Participants receive either standard SBRT with conventional imaging or an investigational approach using detailed pulmonary assessments, including diagnostic questionnaires, pulmonary function tests, and biomarker analyses, to direct radiation away from well-functioning lung tissue. The trial, led by Sean Fain at University of Iowa in Iowa City, aims to refine lung cancer treatment strategies.
