University of Minnesota investigators are running REMIND as a small, single-center feasibility study of an additional low-dose radiation treatment after standard upfront treatment for newly diagnosed glioblastoma. Participants consent before routine postoperative temozolomide chemoradiation and undergo an observational lead-in while receiving standard care off study. The study-specific intervention is one 2 Gy fraction of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) directed to the postoperative cavity and prior enhancing disease, approximately 4 weeks after temozolomide under the protocol.

The initial four-patient feasibility study focuses on whether treatment can be delivered as planned and what toxicities occur, rather than providing a survival comparison. Blood collected before and after treatment is used to explore changes in myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Standard care generally includes maximal safe resection, radiation with temozolomide, and subsequent adjuvant temozolomide, with tumor treating fields considered for suitable patients. REMIND examines the feasibility and biology of adding a small maintenance radiation exposure. A conventional drug-development phase does not apply to this study.
