University of Florida is conducting a Phase 1 trial to evaluate safety and feasibility of adjuvant and neoadjuvant ex vivo hematopoietic stem cells (exHSCs), an investigational cell therapy intended to support immune function, combined with nivolumab—a PD-1 monoclonal antibody that blocks T-cell inhibitory signals—in children with recurrent, progressive, or refractory non-brainstem high-grade gliomas eligible for surgical resection or biopsy. This first-in-human study explores a novel immunotherapy combination aimed at enhancing antitumor responses in a challenging pediatric brain cancer subgroup.
