Conducted at Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center, this Phase II trial evaluates the safety and efficacy of combining 5FU-based chemotherapy (FOLFIRI or mFOLFOX6) with fruquintinib, a VEGFR inhibitor, as a first-line treatment for locally advanced unresectable or metastatic colorectal cancer. Patients receive 28-day cycle treatment with an initial safety run-in for fruquintinib dosing and transition to a maintenance phase after six months for those with stable disease or better, with endpoints including time to progression and tolerability.
