In this phase 3 trial of 505 RAS/BRAF wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients, adding cetuximab β to FOLFIRI as a first-line treatment significantly improved median progression-free survival (13.1 vs. 9.6 months), overall survival (28.3 vs. 23.1 months), and response rates (69.1% vs. 42.3%) compared to FOLFIRI alone, with a manageable safety profile and no new safety concerns.
This study establishes cetuximab β plus FOLFIRI as a compelling new treatment option for patients with mCRC, offering marked survival benefits alongside acceptable tolerability.
