QUESTION

A quick question about breast cancer

I was diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma a week ago today. I have a grade 3 tumor. I don't know the stage yet. I have an MRI on the 15th and see a surgeon a few days later. Any recommendations?

Dear

,

Given your situation, I would recommend seeing 3 doctors to plan the best approach: a surgeon (which you have scheduled already), a breast oncologist, and a radiation oncologist. If all 3 agree initial surgery is the best approach, then that is fine. However, for some TNBC, chemotherapy before surgery can produce a better outcome, and in other specific situations, radiation is actually better than surgery in terms of outcomes. If you need help in identifying those doctors, I can help.
