In the DESTINY-Breast04 trial, patients with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer treated with trastuzumab deruxtecan maintained stable global health status and quality of life over a longer treatment duration, with delayed deterioration in key domains such as pain compared to standard chemotherapy. However, nausea and vomiting were noted as more common side effects.
These findings reinforce that T‑DXd offers a valuable treatment option by preserving patient-reported quality of life and delaying clinical decline, supporting its use in HER2-low mBC when proactive management of gastrointestinal side effects is implemented.
