AstraZeneca is investigating whether adding the PARP1 inhibitor saruparib (AZD5305) to standard radiation therapy and androgen deprivation therapy—with or without abiraterone—improves metastases-free survival in patients with high-risk, BRCA1/2-mutated localized or locally advanced prostate cancer. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial aims to establish saruparib’s superiority over placebo in this setting.
